Morocco is set to strengthen its position in the global food industry with the launch of Morocco Food World, a new international trade show dedicated to the agro-industrial ecosystem. The first edition is scheduled for the second half of 2027 and is being developed by the National Federation of Agri-Food Industries (FENAGRI) in partnership with German trade fair organizer Messe Düsseldorf.
The event is expected to bring together the different players shaping the food value chain, including agro-industrial companies, processing and packaging technology providers, ingredient specialists, service companies, investors and international buyers. The exact venue and dates have yet to be announced.
More than a conventional trade fair, Morocco Food World is designed as a platform for business development and international partnerships. Its organizers aim to create new opportunities for B2B meetings, industrial cooperation, investment and technology transfers, while giving Moroccan companies and their expertise greater exposure to international markets.
The initiative comes as Morocco’s agro-industry continues to play a significant role in the national industrial economy. According to figures presented by Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira at the launch, the sector accounts for 22% of the Kingdom’s industrial production and value added, 11% of industrial investment and nearly 20% of industrial employment, representing more than 206,000 jobs.
The sector also ranks as Morocco’s third-largest export pillar, behind the automotive and phosphate industries. Its development therefore carries implications well beyond food production, particularly for industrial investment, employment and export growth.
Morocco Food World is also aligned with the objectives of the 2030 contract-program signed with FENAGRI. Among its targets are a 16% increase in export turnover and the emergence of 70 new exporting companies.
For FENAGRI President Abdelmounim El Eulj, the new platform should help connect Morocco’s agro-food ecosystem more closely with global markets. The ambition is to promote Moroccan companies internationally while attracting investment and facilitating stronger links between local industrial capabilities and international partners.
With its first edition planned for 2027, Morocco Food World is expected to give Morocco a new international meeting point for the agro-industrial sector, with Europe and Africa among the key markets targeted by the initiative.
