Morocco will open its qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with two matches scheduled just four days apart, hosting Gabon in Rabat before travelling to South Africa to take on Lesotho.
The Atlas Lions will face Gabon on September 25 at 8 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, according to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
South African referee Abongile Tom has been appointed to officiate the opening encounter.
Morocco will then head to Bloemfontein for the second matchday, where Lesotho will be the opponent on September 29. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time at Toyota Stadium.
Cameroonian referee Abdou Abdel Mefire will oversee the second fixture.
The short turnaround between the two matches will make recovery and squad management important factors for Morocco as the national team seeks to make a strong start to its qualification campaign.
