Morocco’s aviation sector continued its strong momentum during the first half of 2026, with the country’s airports handling 18.83 million passengers between January and June. The figure represents an 8.83% increase compared with the same period in 2025, highlighting the sustained growth of the Kingdom’s air connectivity.
International traffic remained the main growth driver, reaching 16.84 million passengers, up 8.86% year-on-year. Domestic travel also expanded, with nearly 2 million passengers using internal flights, reflecting an annual increase of 8.6% and confirming robust demand across both international and domestic markets.
Casablanca Mohammed V Airport retained its position as Morocco’s busiest gateway, serving more than 5.75 million passengers during the six-month period. Marrakech Menara Airport followed closely with over 5.63 million travelers, while Agadir Al Massira, Tangier Ibn Battouta, and Rabat-Salé airports rounded out the list of the country’s five busiest airports.
Europe continued to dominate Morocco’s international air traffic, accounting for more than 14 million passengers, an increase of 9% compared with the first half of last year. The figures reflect the continued strength of tourism, business travel, and connections with the Moroccan diaspora.
Other international markets also recorded solid growth. Passenger traffic with South America posted the strongest increase, rising by more than 34%. Air travel between Morocco and Africa expanded by 15.23%, while North American routes grew by 15.46%. Traffic with Maghreb countries also maintained positive momentum, increasing by 11%.
By contrast, routes linking Morocco with the Middle East and the Far East experienced a slight slowdown, with passenger numbers declining by 5.66% over the same period.
Airport operations kept pace with the increase in passenger traffic. More than 138,000 aircraft movements were recorded across Moroccan airports during the first six months of 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 9.65%. Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir accounted for the largest share of these operations.
Air cargo activity also delivered strong performance, with Moroccan airports handling nearly 57,830 tonnes of freight during the first half of the year, marking a 12.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025 and reinforcing Morocco’s position as a regional logistics hub.
June alone saw more than 3.11 million passengers travel through Morocco’s airports, representing annual growth of 5.83%. The latest figures underline the continued expansion of the country’s aviation sector, supported by rising tourism, stronger international connectivity, and ongoing investments in airport infrastructure.
