Siemens is highlighting the growing role of industrial artificial intelligence and digital engineering at the Farnborough International Airshow, presenting new technologies designed to help aerospace and defense companies speed up development, strengthen collaboration and improve operational efficiency.
At this year’s event, the company is demonstrating how its Siemens Xcelerator portfolio enables manufacturers to connect engineering, production and maintenance through a comprehensive Digital Twin, creating a continuous flow of trusted data across every stage of an aircraft’s lifecycle.
The aerospace and defense sector is facing mounting pressure from rising development costs, supply chain disruptions and increasingly demanding sustainability targets. Siemens says digital technologies combined with industrial AI can help organizations manage these challenges while reducing program delivery times and improving productivity.
“Industrial AI and the Digital Twin are helping aerospace and defense companies navigate increasing complexity and unlock new levels of innovation,” said Ben Sheath, Vice President and Managing Director for UK & Ireland at Siemens Digital Industries Software. He added that connected digital threads allow organizations to accelerate product development, streamline manufacturing and enhance mission readiness.
One of the main attractions at the Siemens stand is an immersive demonstration following the development of a search-and-rescue drone from initial design through manufacturing and long-term operational support. The showcase illustrates how companies can integrate digital tools throughout the entire product lifecycle to improve agility, resilience and decision-making.
During the engineering phase, Siemens combines industrial AI with advanced simulation technologies to support flight safety validation and system verification. In manufacturing, digital solutions help optimize production planning and address supply chain challenges, including through the recently introduced Digital Twin Composer.
For in-service operations, Siemens is presenting Intelligence Center X, an AI-powered platform that analyzes operational data to support predictive maintenance and faster decision-making. The company says the technology helps reduce operational disruptions while improving aircraft availability and overall mission performance.
By bringing together artificial intelligence, digital twins and connected data, Siemens aims to help aerospace manufacturers modernize operations and accelerate innovation in an increasingly complex global market.
