Morocco is using Gamescom 2026 as a springboard for its video game industry, bringing 11 homegrown development studios to one of the sector’s biggest international gatherings in an effort to attract investors, publishers and new commercial partners.

The Moroccan delegation is being led by the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication. For the first time, Morocco has established a national pavilion at Gamescom, held in Cologne from August 26 to 30.

Rather than simply presenting Moroccan-made games, the participation is designed to connect local studios with the international business networks that can help them scale. Developers taking part are being given access to publishers, investors, international studios and other major industry players, with the objective of turning visibility into concrete partnerships and business opportunities.

AMDIE sees the event as an opportunity to accelerate the internationalization of Moroccan gaming companies and help them become more deeply integrated into the global video game value chain.

The move comes as Morocco seeks to build a more structured domestic gaming industry. The country has been working to create platforms capable of bringing together developers, investors and international companies, with the Morocco Gaming Expo emerging as one of the main initiatives supporting the sector.

The latest edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo, held in May 2026, attracted more than 80,000 visitors from 24 countries. It also brought together 100 Moroccan exhibitors and 48 international investors, highlighting the growing interest surrounding Morocco’s gaming ecosystem.

Gamescom therefore represents a step beyond the domestic market. By placing Moroccan studios directly in front of international decision-makers, the country is seeking to move from developing local talent to building export-oriented companies capable of competing for a share of the rapidly expanding global gaming market.

For the participating studios, the Cologne event provides an opportunity to showcase their creations and technical capabilities while exploring financing, publishing and co-development opportunities. For Morocco, the broader ambition is to establish video games as a viable creative and technology industry with international reach.

The Gamescom appearance consequently forms part of a wider effort to give Moroccan gaming companies greater visibility abroad and create the commercial links needed to turn a growing pool of national talent into a sustainable industry.
