Morocco’s annual Marhaba 2026 operation continues to record robust passenger traffic, with more than 1.86 million travelers entering the Kingdom by July 20 as overseas Moroccans return home for the summer season. The latest figures represent a 1.04% increase compared with the same period last year, reflecting the continued success of one of the Mediterranean’s largest cross-border travel operations.
The steady flow of arrivals has been supported by close coordination between Moroccan authorities, Spanish counterparts, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and port operators, ensuring smooth travel conditions throughout the peak holiday period.
Air and sea transport have attracted almost identical passenger volumes this year. Moroccan airports handled 938,641 arrivals, while the country’s ports welcomed 923,968 travelers, highlighting the growing role of both transport networks in facilitating summer travel.
To assist passengers throughout their journey, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has deployed 26 reception centers, including 20 across Morocco and six in Europe. Located at ports, airports, border crossings and motorway rest areas, these facilities provide continuous support and guidance for travelers.
More than 1,300 professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteers, have been mobilized to operate around the clock. Since the launch of the operation, over 21,400 people have received medical assistance, administrative support or travel information. A dedicated toll-free hotline also remains available to assist members of the Moroccan community living abroad.
Meanwhile, Tanger Med Port has strengthened its operational capacity to accommodate the busiest weeks of the summer. Additional ticket counters, expanded parking facilities, upgraded passenger processing systems and real-time traffic management tools have been introduced to improve efficiency. Emergency supplies, including water, food and dedicated services for families and vulnerable passengers, have also been integrated into the operation.
Officials from both Morocco and Spain have emphasized that bilateral cooperation remains essential to the success of Marhaba. Ongoing coordination has helped streamline ferry operations, respond rapidly to incidents and facilitate the implementation of new biometric border control procedures.
As traffic is expected to remain high in the coming weeks, travelers are encouraged to verify the validity of their travel documents, book tickets through official channels and follow road safety recommendations to ensure a safe and efficient journey to Morocco.
