Middlesex-London had recorded one of its deadliest weekends, with nine people claimed by the coronavirus, according to health-unit numbers. Seven of those deaths were reported Sunday.

Of those seven, six are associated with long-term care homes.

Among the dead are two men in their 70s, a woman in her eighties, two women in their 90s and two men in their 90s.

The local death toll throughout the 10-month pandemic stands at 148.

New cases took a nose dive Sunday to 54, which was still enough to push the total case tally so far past 5,000. There have now been 5,041 confirmed cases in the region.

There are 3,418 recovered cases.

Also on the weekend, one case was reported at Clarke Road secondary school by the Thames Valley District school board. The first U.K. variant case was also reported in the region – a person in their 80s who has since recovered.
