International Forum on AI, Digital Transition, Energy, and Connectivity in Africa opened in Rabat with African and international stakeholders gathering to explore the future of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and technological cooperation across the continent.

Held under the High Patronage of Mohammed VI, the three-day conference was launched at the initiative of African Center for Administrative Training and Research for Development under the theme “Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transition, Energy, and Connectivity in Africa: Prospects for International Cooperation.”

The event brings together government representatives, financial institutions, international organizations, private sector companies, NGOs and AI specialists to discuss the challenges and opportunities linked to Africa’s digital transformation, connectivity infrastructure and energy transition.

Addressing participants, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni highlighted CAFRAD’s longstanding contribution to administrative modernization and capacity building across Africa, stressing that artificial intelligence and digital technologies are rapidly reshaping economies, governance systems and global geopolitical balances.

The minister underlined that control over data, digital infrastructure, computing power and AI expertise has become a strategic priority for nations worldwide. She added that Africa holds significant potential thanks to its young population, innovation capacity and growing demand for digital solutions in sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation and energy.

For his part, Coffi Dieudonné Assouvi said artificial intelligence and digital technologies are among the most transformative developments of the 21st century, profoundly changing lifestyles, work environments and the organization of both public and private institutions.

He also pointed to ongoing international efforts aimed at establishing ethical and regulatory frameworks for AI, including UNESCO’s 2021 Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the Pact for the Future adopted by the United Nations in 2024, alongside the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations.

The forum reflects Morocco’s growing ambition to position itself as a regional hub for digital innovation and AI cooperation in Africa while strengthening partnerships focused on technological development and sustainable growth.
