Swedish industrial group Trelleborg has inaugurated a new aerospace manufacturing facility in Nouaceur, strengthening Morocco’s position as a key hub in the global aerospace supply chain.
Located within the Midparc industrial zone near Casablanca, the new plant is dedicated to the production of advanced sealing systems for the aerospace industry. The project represents an investment of nearly 130 million Moroccan dirhams and is expected to create between 150 and 200 jobs over the coming years.
The facility is designed to support the growing localization of aerospace manufacturing in Morocco while increasing sourcing opportunities from suppliers already operating in the country. The project aligns with national efforts to raise local integration rates and attract higher-value industrial activities.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ryad Mezzour said the launch of Trelleborg’s second production site in Morocco reflects the confidence that global industrial leaders place in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem. He highlighted Morocco’s ambition to serve as a strategic platform for the company’s activities across Africa and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The minister also pointed to broader opportunities for collaboration in strategic sectors including aerospace, rail transport, engineering, research and development, renewable energy, and green hydrogen.
According to Trelleborg CEO Peter Nilson, the new Moroccan facility marks an important milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. He noted that the site will help strengthen support for major aerospace manufacturers such as Airbus and Safran, alongside other industrial partners operating in Morocco.
Nilson attributed the investment decision to Morocco’s well-established aerospace ecosystem, economic stability, and the industrial environment offered by Midparc, as well as the support provided by Moroccan authorities.
For Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, the arrival of Trelleborg further strengthens Morocco’s aerospace cluster and supports the next phase of the country’s industrial development. He emphasized that the project will bring additional technology, innovation, and value-added manufacturing capabilities to the national economy.
The investment follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Moroccan government and Trelleborg during the 2024 edition of the Marrakech Air Show 2024, highlighting Morocco’s continued efforts to attract leading global aerospace manufacturers.
