Morocco’s airports are processing passengers more efficiently than ever, with new figures showing a sharp reduction in border control waiting times during the first half of 2026. The improvements come as the country continues to experience strong growth in air travel while investing in a smoother airport experience.
According to Airports of Morocco, the average passport control processing time for departing passengers across the national airport network has fallen to 3.6 minutes, representing a 24% improvement compared with the same period last year. Arrival procedures have also become faster, with the average waiting time dropping to 9.6 minutes, down 22% year over year.
Casablanca Mohammed V Airport delivered some of the strongest gains. Arriving passengers now complete passport checks in an average of 5.4 minutes, less than half the time recorded a year earlier. For departing travelers, the average processing time has been reduced to just 2.25 minutes, reflecting a 70% improvement over the first half of 2025.
Marrakech-Menara Airport also reported better performance despite handling high volumes of international visitors. Average processing times reached 6.86 minutes for arriving passengers and 5.09 minutes for departures, highlighting the airport’s ability to manage growing demand while maintaining operational efficiency.
Similar progress has been recorded across the country’s airport network. Tangier reduced average arrival processing times to 11.93 minutes, while Fez posted one of Morocco’s fastest departure times at just 1.53 minutes. Agadir also maintained arrival processing times below the 10-minute mark.
Airports of Morocco attributed the improved performance to close coordination between all airport stakeholders, particularly the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Ministry of the Interior, whose efforts have helped strengthen border controls without compromising security standards.
