Morocco’s entrepreneurial momentum continued to strengthen during the first five months of 2026, with more than 42,900 new businesses registered across the country, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).

A total of 42,905 companies were created between January and May, reflecting sustained business activity and growing investor confidence. Legal entities accounted for 75% of all new registrations, up from 71% during the same period in 2025.

Single-Member Limited Liability Companies (SARL AU) remained the preferred legal structure for new corporate entities, representing 65.5% of registrations. Standard Limited Liability Companies (SARL) followed with a 33.6% share.

Casablanca-Settat continued to dominate business creation, accounting for 39.3% of all newly registered legal entities. Rabat-Salé-Kénitra ranked second with 14.3%, followed by Marrakech-Safi at 12.8% and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima at 10.4%. Together, these four regions generated more than three-quarters of all new corporate registrations in Morocco.

Commerce remained the leading sector for newly established companies, representing 27.6% of registrations. Construction and real estate activities followed with 25.2%, ahead of miscellaneous services (19.6%), transport (7.7%) and industry (6.3%).

Among sole proprietorships, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima ranked first, accounting for 21.1% of new individual business registrations. Casablanca-Settat followed with 13.4%, while the Oriental region represented 10.7% of the total.

OMPIC also reported issuing 56,618 commercial name certificates between January and May 2026. These certificates, required before company registration, highlight the sustained interest in launching new businesses across the Kingdom.

The latest figures underline Morocco’s expanding entrepreneurial ecosystem and reinforce the country’s position as one of North Africa’s most dynamic business destinations. The continued concentration of new enterprises in major economic hubs also reflects ongoing investment, urban development and efforts to improve the national business climate.
