Morocco Launches “Sawti”, a Multilingual Platform to Simplify Access to Political Information

A new digital initiative is aiming to make political information more accessible to citizens across Morocco and abroad. Launched under the name **Sawti**, the multilingual platform offers a simplified approach to understanding political institutions, electoral processes, and key national issues through an easy-to-use online interface.

Developed as a non-profit project, Sawti was founded by Moroccan entrepreneurs **Ismaïl Lahlou** and **Yassine Lahlou Kamal**, who seek to strengthen access to reliable political information and encourage broader civic participation. The platform reflects a growing effort to leverage digital tools to bridge information gaps and improve public engagement in democratic processes.

One of Sawti’s distinguishing features is its multilingual accessibility. The platform is currently available in nine languages, including Darija, Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and German. The founders have also announced plans to add Amazigh in the near future, further expanding access for diverse audiences both inside Morocco and among Moroccan communities abroad.

Designed for users with varying levels of political knowledge, Sawti provides clear and simplified content explaining how Moroccan institutions operate, how elections are organized, and how political decision-making processes function. By presenting information in an accessible format, the platform aims to help citizens better understand issues that can often appear complex or difficult to navigate.

Ahead of the electoral registration deadline set for June 13, Sawti also offers practical tools that allow citizens to verify their registration status on electoral rolls or complete their registration online within minutes. The platform additionally provides dedicated information for Moroccans living abroad, outlining available procedures and participation options for elections from overseas.

Looking ahead, the project plans to introduce an interactive political quiz that will enable users to explore their political positioning based on their values and views on major social and public policy issues. The feature is intended to encourage reflection and engagement while helping users better understand the political landscape.

Accessible through its online portal, Sawti represents a new step in Morocco’s ongoing digital transformation efforts. By combining multilingual accessibility, civic education, and practical electoral services, the platform seeks to promote informed participation and strengthen citizens’ connection with public affairs.
