Coronavirus: Alberta reports 296 new COVID-19 cases, declining hospitalizations

Locally, there are 2 new COVID-19 cases: 1 in Northumberland and 1 in the Haliburton Region as of today (Feb 10).

And both Burnham Public School and Cobourg Collegiate Institute are reporting cases of COVID-19.

The principal of the elementary school sent a letter to parents Monday (Feb 8), while the principal at CCI issued a similar letter yesterday (Feb 9).

The provincial government lists the case at Burnham as being in a student, while the case at the high school isn’t posted on the website yet.

There are 1,072 new cases in Ontario today and 41 more deaths linked to the virus, with most of the cases continue to be in the GTA.

The HKPR District Health Unit says that in Northumberland, there are 27 unresolved cases of the virus and 362 cases have been resolved.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 941 cases of COVID-19 in the HKPR District Health Unit area.

The health unit has listed 70 as high risk contacts in Northumberland, meaning 70 Northumberland County residents have recently been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
