Two vehicle crash on Highway 1A near Canmore leaves one dead

RCMP are investigating a fatal collision outside of Fort Macleod.

At 7:34 a.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, Fort Macleod RCMP was called to an area of Highway 3, approximately nine kilometres west of the community.

A 26-year-old resident of Okotoks was pronounced deceased on scene.

RCMP say three others, including a five-year-old, were taken to hospital with “various serious injuries.”

“Although unclear what circumstances it played in the collision, officers report heavy fog in the area,” says Fort Macleod RCMP in a media release.

Officers remain on scene, attempting to determine the circumstances of the collision.
