TV reporter Justin Hinton doesn’t need to save face, even if his weather report did go a little awry.

Last week, Hinton, a reporter for WLOS Channel 13, wasn’t doing anything viewers haven’t seen before, standing outside in the snow while providing weather updates on Facebook Live. It turned out to be unlike anything viewers had seen before.

In post on Facebook, Hinton explains he accidentally activated a Facebook filter generator. So as Hinton gave his report, he was shown wearing a hat and sunglasses, a helmet from “Star Wars,” a wizard’s beard and hat, googly eyes, and more.

Hinton says he didn’t realize what had happened until he finished his report and began reading the comments from viewers. He also received calls and texts from co-workers, friends and others laughing about the mishap.

To Hinton’s credit, he took it all in stride.

“If you can’t laugh at yourself, what’s the point of laughter?” Hinton writes. “I hope you enjoyed the snow day, and remember to smile and laugh!”

The filter generator was an error, but Hinton’s report was a hit among viewers.

“Give this man a raise,” writes a commenter on Facebook. “Best weather report ever. Made things FAR more interesting. Nice work Justin. Keep up the amazing work.”
