RCMP: Driver crashes into building in Kelowna

It’s fortunate that no one was injured during a scary incident in central Kelowna this morning.

According to police, an elderly woman was trying to park before doing some shopping when she accidentally hit the gas and drove her SUV into an office building.

While there were no reported injuries, the crash did cause significant damage to the building and office inside.

“This could have easily resulted in injury or worse, we are grateful the only damage was to the vehicle and to the building,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.

After an investigation, the RCMP determined that the driver was sober and “very remorseful” for what happened.

As a result, no criminal charges are being sought.
