A Regina police officer with a history of on-duty assault charges has been fired.

Former Cpl. Colin Magee, 47, was dismissed by Chief Evan Bray on Thursday. Magee had spent almost 18 years with the Regina Police Service.

In July of 2017, Magee faced an assault allegation, which was later withdrawn after the case went through mediation.

In April of 2019, he was charged with two counts of assault on suspects in the police detention area in September 2018.

Magee was found not guilty of assaulting a 42-year-old man. Magee pleaded guilty on charges of assaulting a 13-year-old and was given a conditional discharge, including a year of probation.

Now, Bray has decided that Magee is unsuitable for police service under The Police Act.

Magee has 30 days to make an appeal. In that case, an independent hearing officer would review Bray’s decision.
