Police: Man dead after being struck by truck in downtown Vancouver

Vancouver police are looking for anyone who saw a fatal accident occur in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside March 7.

A 57-year-old man crossing West Hastings Street near Carral Street was hit by a transport truck around 10 a.m. this morning, according to the VPD. Unfortunately the man died at the scene, they add.

“Investigators are interviewing witnesses and the driver, who remained on scene and was cooperative. It’s believed the pedestrian was jay-walking when the collision occurred,” police state in a press release.

It’s the fourth pedestrian fatality of the year in Vancouver.

Anyone who saw what happened or who can share footage of the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the police collision investigation unit at 1-604-717-3012.
