Morocco’s tourism industry maintained its strong momentum during the first half of 2026, with nearly 9.4 million international visitors entering the country by the end of June. The latest figures represent a 6% increase compared with the same period last year, highlighting the Kingdom’s growing appeal across key global travel markets.

European countries continued to drive much of the growth. Arrivals from Germany climbed by 14%, while visitors from France and Belgium each increased by 9%. The Netherlands recorded a 10% rise, Italy posted a 6% gain, and the United Kingdom expanded by 4%. The strongest performance came from Poland, where tourist arrivals surged by 32%. The United States also remained an important source market, with arrivals up 9%.

The positive trend extends beyond border crossings. Morocco’s tourism sector generated an 8.1% increase in added value during the first quarter of 2026, reflecting sustained demand for the country’s leisure, cultural and business travel offerings.

Accommodation activity also continued to improve. Overnight stays in classified hotels and other regulated accommodation establishments rose by 9% through the end of May, demonstrating steady occupancy levels across the country’s leading destinations.

Several cities delivered particularly strong results. Ouarzazate led the way with a 24% increase in overnight stays, followed by Rabat at 18%, Agadir at 13%, Casablanca at 12% and Marrakech at 10%. Other destinations, including Tangier, Fez, Essaouira, Errachidia and Al Haouz, also reported continued growth, reflecting the broader diversification of Morocco’s tourism landscape.

Tourism revenue has followed the same upward trajectory. Travel receipts reached approximately MAD 53.8 billion by the end of May 2026, marking a 14.6% year-on-year increase. The figures underline tourism’s expanding contribution to Morocco’s economy as the country continues to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s leading travel destinations.
