Man found dead on snowmobile trail near Richmond ID'd, Report

Ottawa police have opened a homicide investigation after a man was found dead Sunday on a snowmobile trail south of Richmond.

Police said the body was discovered by a passerby on the trail off Dobson Lane. Police were called to the area near McBean Street and Dobson Lane just before 9 a.m. Homicide investigators spent much of the day at the scene, and officers used a drone as part of the initial investigation in the wooded area surrounded by homes and farmland. During the day, police vehicles with flashing lights remained near the location.

The identification process and the notification of next of kind were underway, police said. No cause of death or other details were immediately released.

Police asked anyone who was in the area of McBean Street between 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday, and noticed anything suspicious, or anyone with information, to contact the homicide unit at at 612-236-1222, ext. 5493.
