Morocco’s financial services sector is gaining international recognition for its approach to regulatory compliance and risk management. M2T, a payment institution affiliated with Groupe Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP), has won the “Best Compliance Team” award at the Excellence in Compliance Awards held in Dubai.

The distinction was presented on September 3, 2026, during an event organised by the Middle East & Africa Compliance Association (MEACA) in partnership with NielsonSmith. M2T was selected ahead of fellow finalists JHI and Nedbank.

The award recognises the company’s efforts to strengthen its internal compliance framework and establish effective risk management practices. The jury, composed of experienced professionals from the banking, financial and payment industries, highlighted the commitment of M2T’s teams and the robustness of its compliance system.

For the Moroccan payment institution, the recognition comes at a time when financial services are undergoing rapid digital transformation. The expansion of electronic payments, changing customer expectations and increasingly demanding regulatory requirements are placing greater pressure on financial institutions to reinforce their governance and security frameworks.

As a major player in Morocco’s payment and proximity services market, M2T has made compliance a central component of its operating model. Beyond meeting regulatory obligations, the company considers it an essential factor in building customer confidence and controlling operational risks.

The award also reflects the broader governance standards promoted by Groupe Banque Centrale Populaire, which places risk management and responsible development at the centre of its financial activities.

This international recognition strengthens M2T’s position in Morocco’s evolving digital payments ecosystem and highlights the growing importance of compliance as a competitive advantage for financial institutions across Africa and the Middle East.
