Morocco will once again become a major destination for the global equestrian community as the 17th edition of the Salon du Cheval d’El Jadida takes place from October 13 to 18, 2026, at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park. Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event continues to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a leading hub for horse culture, sport and innovation.
This year’s edition is built around the theme “The Horse in the Service of Humanity,” celebrating the unique relationship between horses and people throughout history. From agriculture and transport to sport, education and cultural traditions, the horse continues to play an important role while reminding society of the need to promote its welfare and preserve its place in modern life.
Since its launch in 2008, the Salon du Cheval d’El Jadida has become one of the most important equestrian gatherings in Africa and beyond. Every year, it attracts breeders, riders, trainers, researchers, craftsmen, institutions, businesses and horse enthusiasts, creating an international meeting point dedicated to the development of the equine industry.
The 2026 edition will further enhance its sporting profile with a major upgrade to its international competitions. The Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Show Jumping has been promoted to CSI5*-W status, placing El Jadida among the world’s elite show jumping venues. Another international competition will also move from CSI1* to CSI2*, bringing higher-level competition and attracting some of the sport’s leading riders.
Morocco’s rich equestrian traditions will remain a central feature of the event through the Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Tbourida. The competition will bring together the Kingdom’s best sorbas, highlighting the precision, discipline and teamwork that define this centuries-old tradition and showcasing one of Morocco’s most celebrated cultural expressions.
Breed championships will once again be among the highlights of the programme. Visitors will enjoy the Champion Cup for Barb Horses, the Champion Cup for Arab-Barb Horses, the Moroccan Breeders’ Cup for Arab Horses and the International Arabian Horse Competition, recognised as a Title Show. These events underline the quality of Moroccan breeding while promoting internationally renowned bloodlines.
Alongside the competitions, the exhibition will host conferences, professional meetings and cultural events focusing on the future of the equine sector. Discussions will explore breeding, veterinary science, innovation, heritage preservation and the evolving contribution of horses to society.
The Salon will also offer Morocco’s regions an opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship, equestrian traditions and local products, reinforcing the role of the horse in supporting rural development and preserving the country’s cultural identity.
Young visitors will benefit from a dedicated educational programme introducing children and teenagers to equestrian disciplines, careers, traditions and values. Through interactive activities and learning experiences, the event aims to inspire the next generation of riders and equine professionals.
Organised by the Association du Salon du Cheval under the presidency of Charif Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, the Salon continues to promote Morocco’s equine industry while expanding its international influence.
From October 13 to 18, 2026, El Jadida is expected to welcome thousands of visitors, exhibitors and competitors from Morocco and abroad for six days dedicated to sporting excellence, cultural heritage and the enduring bond between humanity and the horse.
