Morocco’s national football team has started preparations for its opening match in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Gabon next on the schedule.
The Atlas Lions held their first training session at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora as the coaching staff began implementing its preparation program for the upcoming fixtures.
The opening session focused primarily on restoring the players’ physical condition and getting the squad into rhythm ahead of the competitive return.
Most of the selected players took part in the training. Ismael Saibari and Achraf Hakimi were the only absentees, with both players expected to join the group on Wednesday.
The Moroccan squad will continue training at the Maamora complex in the coming days before facing Gabon on Friday.
The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. It will mark Morocco’s first fixture in the qualifying campaign for the 2027 AFCON.
The schedule will then take the Atlas Lions to South Africa for their second qualifier against Lesotho next Tuesday. That match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Morocco will also have another fixture on the calendar shortly afterward. The national team is due to face Ghana in a friendly on October 4 at the Grand Stadium in Tangier.
