Ontario is reporting 4,156 new COVID-19 cases and 28 more deaths, according to its latest report released Wednesday morning.
The seven-day average is at 4,003 cases daily, or 192 weekly per 100,000. Ontario’s seven-day average for deaths is at 19.3 daily, a record high for the third wave.
The province says 54,211 tests were completed the previous day with a 8.6 per cent positivity rate.
There are 1,877 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province, including 642 patients in intensive care. There are 442 people on ventilators.
Ontario has administered 112,817 vaccine doses since its last daily update, with 3,422,974 vaccines given in total as of 8 p.m. the previous night. The province says 337,206 people have completed their vaccinations, which means they’ve had both doses.
Locally, Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 1,254 new cases in Toronto, 593 in Peel, 476 in York Region, 340 in Ottawa and 248 in Durham.
Meanwhile, the province is reporting that there were no new deaths in long-term care so the number of LTC residents who have died stays the same at 3,755.
Ontario is reporting five more long-term-care homes in outbreak, for a total of 41 or 6.5 per cent of LTC homes in the province, with eight new staff cases.
This data is self-reported by the long-term care homes to the Ministry of Long-Term Care. Daily case and death figures may not immediately match the numbers posted by the local public health units due to lags in reporting time.
At this time, the province has not yet released its daily variant count numbers.
