A 12-year-old was taken to a hospital outside of the region with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a single vehicle collision in Woolwich Township.

It happened over the noon hour Sunday on Hawkesville Road, between Three Bridges Road and Northside Drive.

The child was a passenger in a minivan travelling east on Hawkesville. The driver allegedly travelled off the roadway and hit a hydro pole.

The driver, a 47-year-old Woolwich man, was not injured.

Hawkesville Road had to be closed for several hours so crews could repair the hydro pole.

Any potential witnesses are asked to call police at at 519-570-9777, extension 8856.
