Banking support for Morocco’s smallest businesses is gaining greater recognition as Groupe BCP receives a major international award for its work with entrepreneurs and very small enterprises.
The banking group has been named “Best Bank for Entrepreneurship & TPE Development in Morocco for 2026” by the World Union of Arab Bankers. The award was presented during the Arab Banks Awards & Commendations of Excellence ceremony held in Istanbul on September 11.
The recognition comes at a symbolic moment for Groupe BCP, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It also coincides with the 35th anniversary of its Fondation Création d’Entreprises.
The award reflects an approach that increasingly goes beyond conventional lending. Groupe BCP has been developing a broader support model combining financing, business advice, digital services, skills development and access to entrepreneurial networks.
Its TPE strategy has accelerated significantly in 2026. The group has expanded its specialized distribution model while continuing to develop its Al Moukawil Chaabi centers, financing processes and credit-scoring tools.
These centers are designed as one-stop locations for entrepreneurs, bringing banking services together with financial and non-financial support.
The rollout began with Tanger and Marrakech in 2025 before expanding to other regions of Morocco this year.
The financial impact is already visible. By the end of July 2026, cumulative credit production for the TPE segment had increased by 33% compared with the same period in 2025.
Groupe BCP is also relying on its Fondation Création d’Entreprises to address challenges that financing alone cannot solve.
During the first seven months of 2026, nearly 21,000 beneficiaries received non-financial support from the foundation. Its activities include helping entrepreneurs structure their projects, prepare business plans and improve the performance of existing businesses.
The foundation also supports projects launched by Moroccans living abroad and helps accelerate the development of TPEs already operating in the market.
This integrated approach brings together several components of the BCP ecosystem, including regional banks, the TPE and crafts segment, Al Moukawil Chaabi centers and the foundation.
The group has also used its Regional Investment initiative to strengthen direct contact with entrepreneurs. The third edition was organized across eight stages in Morocco, providing opportunities to identify investment needs and connect project owners with the group’s different areas of expertise.
For Groupe BCP, the underlying strategy is clear: small businesses need more than access to credit to survive and grow.
The bank is therefore positioning itself as a longer-term partner for entrepreneurs, from the initial project idea through business development, with the broader objective of strengthening Morocco’s entrepreneurial base and supporting job creation.
