Perth County OPP identify victim of fatal crash on Highway 8

Perth County OPP have revealed the identity of the victim of a fatal crash yesterday near Shakespeare.

Yesterday morning just before 6:30 a.m., officers responded alongside Perth County Paramedic Services and the Perth East Fire Department to a fatal two vehicle collision at Perth Line 34 or Highway 8, between Road 102 and Road 104, in the Township of Perth East. A passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle were involved. Police say the driver of the passenger vehicle involved died at the scene. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Jacob Hertzberger of Blandford-Blenheim Township. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Highway 8 was closed for a lengthy period for investigators but has since reopened. Police say they will provide updates only if necessary regarding the crash.
