Talisman Metals is strengthening its financial position ahead of a new exploration phase in Morocco, where the company is preparing to begin drilling at its copper projects.

The mining company has raised approximately £501,800 through a share placement involving 7.2 million new shares priced at 7 pence each. The proceeds will be used mainly to finance exploration and development activities across its Moroccan portfolio, while also supporting general working capital requirements.

The fundraising comes as Talisman approaches the start of its drilling campaign at the Tirzzit copper project. The company expects drilling activities to begin in September, marking an important stage in its efforts to assess the scale and quality of the mineralisation identified in the area.

Tirzzit is located in Morocco’s Atlas region, close to several established mining operations. Talisman holds exploration interests in a broader portfolio of copper and copper-silver projects in the country, including Fougnar and other targets within its Moroccan assets.

The latest capital injection is designed to give the company greater flexibility as field operations accelerate. Talisman’s management has indicated that strengthening its cash position ahead of the drilling programme will allow it to allocate resources more efficiently as exploration work progresses.

The market reacted positively to the announcement. Talisman Metals shares were trading at 7.10 pence in London on Thursday morning, representing a gain of more than 18%. Including the newly issued shares, the company’s market capitalisation stood at around £5.1 million.

The strong move in the share price follows a series of updates from the company concerning its Moroccan operations. Talisman recently announced the mobilisation of drilling equipment for Tirzzit, while earlier exploration work produced encouraging sampling results and identified additional areas of copper mineralisation.

Morocco has consequently become a key component of Talisman Metals’ growth strategy. The upcoming drilling programme should provide the company with additional geological information and help determine the scale of the opportunities available across its Moroccan copper portfolio.
