A high school in Campbellton, N.B., has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19.

Sugarloaf Senior High School principal Michael O’Toole reported the case in a message to parents and guardians Thursday night. The information was posted on the school’s Facebook page at 9:30 p.m.

Classes have been cancelled for Friday.

This is the first reported school-related case of COVID-19 since New Brunswick schools reopened in September.

Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s chief medical officer of health, said Thursday there was a case of COVID-19 in the Campbellton region, involving a person in their 30s. She said the two other new New Brunswick cases Thursday were related to travel outside the Atlantic bubble, but the Campbellton case was still under investigation.
